On December 14, 2016, Deputy Chief of Mission Christopher Hegadorn spoke at an African Union-UNESCO education policy workshop on the Mission’s ‘TeachHer’ partnership initiative, and plans for expanding its teacher training for STEAM educators in Africa during 2017, with the goal of narrowing the gender gap in STEAM subjects and careers.
